SUMMARY:BABA MWALIMU BARUTI - AFRIKAN-CENTERED CONSCIOUSNESS VS THE NEW WORLD ORDER
DESCRIPTION:Baba Baruti is returning to the Black Dot Cultural Center to give a lecture on what he deems is the MOST IMPORTANT book written by Nana Amos Wilson: Afrikan-centered Consciousness VS The New World Order: Garveyism in the Age of Globalism. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn two masterful lectures contained within the pages of this modest text\, Dr. Wilson challenges the all too pervasive assumption and false perception that the “New World Order” is somehow ordained-that if Afrikan people are to progress\, they have no other alternative but to remain colonized by White-Western interests. This of course is patently false. Dr. Wilson debunks this myth with an insightful analysis of the Legacy of Marcus Garvey and the proven validity of African-centered consciousness as a necessary psychological and material tool in the struggle for true liberation. \n\n\n\nBaba Mwalimu K. Bomani Baruti is co-founder and co-director of Akoben Institute\, a full-time\, independent\, Afrikan-centered homeschooling program for middle and high schoolers that celebrated its 21st year of service to our community.  He has written and self-published 27 books (and 5 workbooks) addressing issues ranging from manhood to chess\, the Middle Passage\, and relationships to education to security.  He is a former faculty at Chicago State University and Morehouse College.  For the last twenty years\, he has continued this work through teaching courses\, classes\, and lectures online at the Akoben Institute for Adults and Youth.  He has been married to Yaa Mawusi Baruti for 35 years and they have one daughter\, Alaya\, who lives with her husband and six children. \n\n\n\nAbout Akoben House\n\n\n\nIndependent Publishers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAkoben House is an independent\, Afrikan-centered publishing company. Founded in 2000 by Mwalimu K. Bomani and Yaa Mawusi Baruti\, it is dedicated to disseminating consciousness-raising writings. Read More

SUMMARY:Let The Circle Be Unbroken Expanded
DESCRIPTION:“If we are to define our classics as those words which traverse all Afrikan time\, singularly speaking to the uncompromised mind of Afrika as a righteous\, spiritual entity\, then Marimba Ani’s Let the Circle Be Unbroken is a timeless classic. It is a revolutionary nationthinking\, nationbuilding tool of epic proportions for Warriors with the Sankofan mind to recreate reality in our Ancestors names. \n\n\n\nAnd now\, to this masterpiece which by itself\, stands as a guide to what it means Be Afrikan\, she has added a true praise song a statement of reverence for those who came before and unequivocally established our humanity\, an ourstorical recollection of the fact\, depth and progression of the Maafa and an affirmation through which an untainted Afrikan order can be remembered and restored to its original lucidity\, resilience and power.”

We hope you can join us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a screening of the Documentary Film\, I\, Too\, from the mind of Emory University professor\, Dr. Carol Anderson. Once you register for a ticket you will receive an email with the full address. \n\n\n\nTickets \n\n\n\nwww.mobilize.us/indivisiblega04/event/624815 \n\n\n\nHere’s a trailer of the documentary film: I\, Too \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFilm Synopsis: \n\n\n\nOn January 6\, 2021\, armed insurrectionists besieged the United States Capitol in the name of patriotism. To some\, it was an unexpected and shocking attack on democracy. To others\, it was a noble attempt to rescue a nation on the brink of collapse. For Carol Anderson\, the insurrection was a predictable coda to more than two centuries of American mythology. \n\n\n\nWe are grateful to Humanity in Action for making this film available to us.
