The Barnett-Aden Gallery was the first Black-owned commercial art gallery in the United States and became an important interracial cultural institution in segregated Washington, D.C. This catalog documents the gallery’s collection and its relationship to artists including Alma Thomas, Elizabeth Catlett, Loïs Mailou Jones, Charles White, and Romare Bearden.
Preserved in its original slipcase
This copy retains the original matching burgundy slipcase. The book is clean, bright, and structurally sound, while the slipcase shows only light handling wear and slight corner compression. The complete presentation makes this a stronger collector copy than an ordinary unboxed example.
